Exercise and stretching on your own is absolutely essential if you want to avoid flare ups in the future. Understand that in the days immediately following your sciatic nerve problem, you need to rest your back. Staying off of your feet can give the nerve time to recover. But once you have gotten over this issue, stretching every single day and doing directly beneficial exercise can help your back for the future.

    I have had this DVD for a month now and can say that it is really very good. I am motivated enough by it’s content and results to do is every day/other day.
    It is not a ‘cure all’ but it is amazing at explaining, showing and helping you to relieve muscles that are so tight, that back and shoulder/neck pain are inevitable.
    The sound quality is not fabulous but that doesn’t matter all that much, it is only a bit crackly when you turn it up.
    One word of warning is that the Hip Flexor stretch is not achievable for anyone other than the most supple people (like those demonstrating it). My physio recommends an alternative based upon a more upright form of position which is much more achievable and effective. Nonetheless I feel compelled to say that this DVD has turned me round from being completely incapacitated to having more range of movement than I have had in a very long time.
